-Additional views:

Press Start to pause the game play during a race. Press Left(5), 

Right (5). Resume the race and zoom the camera to access two more 

views. Note: Press Up(5), Down (5) in the Japanese version of the 

game. 



-Race only in the evening:

Hold L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 and press X at the track selection screen. 



-Race only at night:

Hold R1 + R2 and press X at the track selection screen. 



-Race only during the day:

Hold L1 + L2 and press X at the track selection screen. 



-Time trial mode:

Hold Select on the track selection screen. 



-All cars:

Hold R1 + R2 + L1 + L2 + Select + Down + Triangle at the car 

selection screen. All cars in the game may now be selectable by 

pressing Left or Right. Normally, the cars are unlocked as follows.



-Extra cars

Finish in first place on all three tracks with the settings on 

normal enemy level and orthodox race style. Four additional cars 

(two different cards with automatic and manual transmission 

versions) will be available in the car selection screen: Red #1 

(automatic), Blue #11 (manual), Yellow #2 (automatic), Green #12 

(manual). 



-Racer X's car

Finish in first place on all three tracks with the settings on 

normal enemy level and endurance race style. Racer X's yellow #9 

car will be available in the car selection screen. The light yellow 

car has an automatic transmission. The dark yellow car has a manual 

transmission. 



-Demon cars

Enable the "Extra cars" and "Racer X's car" codes. Finish the first 

trace in first place using Racer X's #9 car in Time trial mode. 

A red Demon car with a automatic transmission, and a black Demon 

car with a manual transmission will be available in the car 

selection screen. Note: These cars are called Ogre cars in the 

Japanese version of the game. 



-GXR car

Race on the medium or hard track and go through the tunnel. Look on 

the left for a small passage with a wall. To break through the 

wall, go over 190 mph, bump the statues on the left out of the way, 

then use the saws to crash through the wall. Drive straight ahead 

to find the white GSX car. It has A++ ratings for auto and manual.



-Overhead replay view:

Press Circle + Triangle + Square + X during the replay. 



-Shortcuts:

There is building that appears to be a gas station approximately 

two thirds of the way through the Medium and Hard Level tracks. 

Make a hard left turn at this building to reach a fence. Use the 

Auto Jacks to jump the fence. Use the Chopper Blades to cut the 

trees blocking the path. While driving over the trees the surface 

will be muddy, so use the Belt Tires for better traction and speed. 

A small lake will appear. Activate either the Defender Dome or the 

Frogger buttons (one automatically activates the other). After the 

lake is another fence that is just in front of a waterfall. Jump 

this fence and make a hard left turn to avoid hitting the far wall 

next to the waterfall. Race to the finish line. This shortcut will 

allow almost half of the track to be skipped. 



In the medium and long tracks (just after the gas station two 

thirds of the way through), on the left hand side of the course 

there appears to be an uncompleted overhead pass. Use the Auto 

Jacks to jump on the overpass, then switch to Belt Tires over the 

mud. Then Auto Jack over the barrier at the end of the short cut.



-Tunnel shortcut:

You can break through any of the doors that are in the tunnels if 

they are hit at near full speed. Breaking through the first door in 

the first tunnel leads to a small shortcut that includes jumping 

a fence and going through water. In this secret part of the tunnel 

is also a 90 degree turn to the left and another door. 



-Hints:

Leaving the Belt Tires activated will result in a slower top speed 

on the race track. Leaving the Chopper Blades activated affects 

handling slightly.
